Hello everyone! My name is Paula Farinha and I am Milagro Marketing’s new intern. This was my first week here at the office and no words will ever be enough to describe my experience so far, but I’ll try. One thing that I know for certain is that this is going to be an unforgettable adventure.

I am a current student at De Anza Community College majoring in communications with an emphasis in advertising. I am hoping to transfer to an UC next fall, so keep your fingers crossed. Creativity has been a huge aspect of my life and how I define my reality. I love capturing someone’s attention with the power of image and color. I was always that girl that spent way too much time on the design aspects of any project.

I know David from my old elementary school, St. Clare. My mom was the one who suggested that I work at his firm during summer to broaden my perspective and experience in the field. Don’t you just love Moms. They are the first to volunteer you for anything and everything. Which reminds me, I have to thank her for getting me involved because this has definitely been one of the most overwhelming, nerve-racking, exciting, insane, entertaining and fun weeks ever.

My week started with being forgotten of and waiting in the parking lot for an hour. Till Nick, one of our designers rescued me, a great way to meet your future co-worker. It was followed by getting a very elaborate orientation on social media by our wonderful Isadora. After that I made it a priority to carry a notebook with me at all times and take notes on everything. What I have also learned is to fake it till you make it. All week I have been pretending that I know how to use a Mac but all I have ever used was a PC. I was doing a very good job at it, until David caught me when he asked me to save a document and I was fluster by his request. Now I know how and am slowly getting the hang of it. On Thursday I walked into the office and was greeted by 20 bottles of Tequila sitting on the meeting table. Something I needed after Brazil’s lost and a crazy couple days. My week ended with me being blessed by a homeless man at St. James Park, where we were planning the setup of our annual Día de Los Muertos Festival.

I have literarily been taken out of my confront zone and launched into this crazy universe.
But within this colorful new world I have discovered the power of creativity and the endless possibilities it can create. I know it has only been 17 hours, 23 minutes and 46 seconds but I am certain that this is definitely the career path I have been searching for. After this week I am very excited, but a little scared not going to lie, to see what the future holds for me here. I am ready and pumped to jump into new projects and redefine my limits. So buckle down and hold on to your pantalones because this ride has only begun.
