Tomorrow marks my third week interning as the account manager at Milagro Marketing, I’ve done and learned so much already! From managing our clients’ Facebook pages I’ve learned to tailor my tone of voice to the brand. Chacho’s Restaurant’s brand for example, has a livelier persona than our client Deluxe because Chacho’s is a place where people go to let loose! The restaurant itself has a party vibe, so I end almost every sentence with two or three exclamation marks!! Deluxe, when it opens, will have a much more sophisticated old school vibe. The tone is more subdued, cool without overselling the restaurant.

I’ve had a great time managing the Facebook pages, but I’ve also been in charge of the entertainment for the Chacho’s Taco Festival and that has been a challenge. Booking bands require a lot of back and forth communication, and often it lags because of how busy both parties are. With a deadline for having the bands booked in order to have promotional content on the Chacho’s Taco Festival page, it has been nerve-racking at times to be left hanging, often not receiving a single response from bands I’ve reached out to. Our marketing efforts will begin next week, which means I need to have all of the bands booked and confirmed by this Friday.

I’m sure I will be needing an extra shot in my morning latte to keep up with the marketing tasks we’ll be jumping into next week— but I am so excited and anxious to learn the ropes of media buying! I understand the media buying process theoretically. Actually executing it will be an entirely new experience for me, so wish me luck!
