Summer break has been flying by faster than I ever remembered. At Milagro, I am immersed in multiple projects at a time, and I confront deadlines for each one of them. Although the workload does become stressful and intimidating for a severely unseasoned college sophomore like me, I am constantly reminded that my future and career as a designer will be even faster-paced and heavier in workload.

A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to do some exclusive fieldwork with David, Sergio, and Marcella at our clients’ restaurants: Chacho’s and Deluxe. That day, amidst snapping pictures, shooting footage, and interviewing clients for social media, I learned how valuable it is for my abilities, as a designer, to go beyond that of simply putting together vectors and images on a screen. We worked all day at the convenience of our clients, and the experience truly kept me aware of all events and ready to work if expected to do something.

In my first week, efficiency was the (quick) key to success. In the weeks that followed, as I gained more confidence in designing, I picked up three values that will, without a doubt, help me succeed in my future as a graphic designer: the environment will always be fast paced, work with what you got, and always stay on your toes.
