After an amazingly eventful, but incredibly stressful, first year at Cal Poly, I am finally back home in the beautiful city of San Jose for the summer. This summer, aside from my suitcase and a head full of newly acquired knowledge, I brought home my university’s motto: “Learn by Doing.” During my first week at Milagro, simply by diving straight into the work, I have learned much more than a quarter system class could ever teach me.

There are two words that accurately describe my first week here: quick keys. On my first day, I spent so much time navigating Illustrator and hunting for tools. Luckily, Sergio was there to save the day. He taught me a few simple quick keys to speed up the process, and even though I only completed a few images that day, I left confident that my skills would continue to improve as I kept working.

I get excited to wake up in the morning to intern at and work in such an incredibly colorful and creatively stimulating environment this summer. Not only have I become more familiar with digital design, I have picked up little lessons on how to advertise effectively, how to communicate with clients, and so much more. I am so grateful for the opportunity to get my foot in the door early on and excited to gain the skills necessary to succeed now and in the future.
